The revolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) could boost Brazil’s GDP by up to 6%, according to a study conducted by Reginaldo Rodrigues, CEO of Cogtive. With over 15 years of experience in controlling and automating manufacturing units, Rodrigues emphasizes the urgent need for the adoption of Industry 4.0 in Brazil.
IA en Manufacción: Oportunidades y Desafíos
The incorporation of AI in the manufacturing sector could potentially result in a significant increase in Brazil’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Rodrigues, who is also a mechanical and control engineer, bases this analysis on market studies and the experience of Cogtive, a developer of software for industrial production lines.
The application of AI solutions and machine learning in industrial production processes, a hallmark of the transformation to Industry 4.0, has the potential to accelerate processes, combat failures and waste, and optimize production capacity.

However, Rodrigues points out that, in 2022, the Brazilian manufacturing industrial sector failed to generate R$ 500 billion due to the lack of utilization of hidden capacity, equivalent to 5.6% of GDP. This estimate is supported by a study from McKinsey & Company, which indicates that 30% of factories operate below their maximum potential.
The cause of this underutilization includes unnecessary production line stops, inefficient allocation of labor, and poor process management. Rodrigues argues that, thanks to modern solutions in automation and AI, these problems are entirely avoidable.
Caso de Éxito: Ourofino Saúde Animal
As proof of AI’s potential in the industry, Rodrigues cites the case of Ourofino Saúde Animal. The veterinary medicine company registered a 29% increase in its production capacity after adopting the AI solution from Cogtive, called TÆLOR.
AI, Rodrigues explains, provides valuable insights through real-time data, combining machine conditions with production line progress. This allows for the identification and correction of any issues before they result in interruptions and losses.
